Calc

Affiliate Disclosure

WoodCalc is free for you to use. It stays free because some of the links on this site earn us a commission when you buy something. This page explains exactly how that works.

The short version

Our affiliate partners

As of 2026-10, WoodCalc participates in the following programs. The list is updated when we add or remove a partner.

PartnerWhat it sells
Amazon AssociatesBroad range: power tools, hand tools, lumber, fasteners, paint, finishes, safety equipment
Home Depot (via Impact)Lumber, building materials, tools, paint, garden and outdoor products
Lowe's (via Impact)Lumber, building materials, tools, appliances, paint

How the links work

Affiliate links carry a referral identifier. When you click one and complete a purchase, the retailer tells us the sale happened and pays us a percentage. We get paid by the retailer, never by you, and never by adding anything to your price.

Where links appear

Links appear in two places only:

  1. Below the results. Each calculator page has a short "Buy the materials this project needs" section after the result. It lists the categories of material the calculator just told you to buy. It never appears inside the result itself.
  2. Inside guides and charts, where a specific product type is the natural next step.

We do not run banner ads, interstitials, or "sponsored results" inside calculators. If a calculator does not have a useful product category behind its answer, we do not put links there.

How product selection works

Products are selected by category, not by brand deal. When a deck calculator tells you to buy pressure-treated decking boards, the link takes you to that category across many brands. We do not receive a specific product to promote, and we do not accept payment for a specific link placement.

Editorial independence

No retailer, manufacturer, or affiliate partner has ever reviewed, approved, or had input into a formula, a chart, a table, or a piece of advice on this site. If an affiliate partner disagrees with what a calculator says, the calculator stays as it is.

Errors we have corrected because of this arrangement

None — and we intend to keep it that way. If a commission ever appears to have influenced a result on this site, that is a bug in our process, and we would rather lose the commission than publish a wrong number.
